Cats and Candles: Precautions to Take for Fall and Halloween

Keep candles out of reach
Cats are curious and may approach candles, risking burns or knocking over the flame. Always place your candles out of reach, on stable surfaces and away from areas frequented by your cat.

Using LED candles
For added safety, opt for flameless LED candles. They create an autumnal atmosphere without danger for your cat and eliminate the risk of fire.

Avoid scented candles
Some scented candles contain chemicals or essential oils that are toxic to cats. If you use scented candles, make sure they are made from natural, non-toxic ingredients.

Supervision
Never leave your cat alone in a room where candles are lit. Always make sure to blow out candles before leaving the room or going to bed.
